The Rochester Community and Technical College softball team split a pair of games against visiting Ridgewater on Monday.
In the first game, RCTC gave up a couple of leads and wasn’t able to come back as it fell 4-3.
Although Ridgewater left eight on base, the Yellowjackets left nine.
"We played a solid game," RCTC co-head coach Paula Carlsen said. "There were opportunities in the game where we didn’t take care of it. A couple moments we could have taken advantage but it cost us."
Britni Mensink had a hot bat, going 3-for-4 with a double.

Sammi Rossi took the loss with seven strikeouts, no walks and three earned runs. Pulling her proved to be important in the second game.
In the second game, the Yellowjackets came back from a late three-run deficit to hand Ridgewater its first Minnesota Community College Conference loss in a 6-5, 10-inning thriller.
RCTC used three pitchers — Mensink, Whitney Hawes and Rossi. Rossi had the mound the last four innings and got three strikeouts.
"Our defense backed (our pitchers) up," Carlsen said.
Mensink didn’t just do work from the mound, as she was 3-for-5 with a double.
Also having big bats were Alyssa Mackey, who was 2-for-5 with two runs, and Kassie Holmes, also 2-for-5 with the game-winning RBI.
"What a fantastic team effort," Carlsen said. "They made some great plays (and) they did a nice job with no errors out there. It took everybody (to win)."
The game was long enough for Ridgewater to have 50 at-bats.

RCTC moves to 12-10 overall and 6-6 in the Southern Division of the MCCC.
Its game tomorrow is canceled because Dakota County Technical College’s program has folded. However, they host Minnesota West for a Wednesday doubleheader.
