The porous Jets defense was giving up 32 points a game and the Vikings cannot score until three minutes are left? A very weak effort. Four more turnovers and another week without being able to get the ball downfield to Randy Moss with any consistency.
The Vikings coaching staff of the offense gets no cheers here. Mike Tice even had to waste a timeout to figure out he needed to kick an extra point after the only Minnesota touchdown.
As for the Vikings defense, they simply cannot defend the pass. Joey Harrington of Detroit and Chad Pennington of the Jets have each thrown for more than 300 yards against the Vikings the past two weeks. Harrington is a rookie and Pennington is in his first season as a starter. Pennington's 82.8 percent completion rate was the best ever by a Jets quarterback who threw at least 20 passes in a game. He was 7-for-10 for 151 yards on third down. When was the last time you saw a three-and-out series recorded by the Vikings defense? I can't remember either.
