The RT Autism Awareness Foundation will have a pizza party from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 14 at Mama Mia's Pizza Kitchen and Kidz Game Zone, 4919 U.S. 52 N. to show its appreciation for the public's support and to continue to promote awareness of autism and the effects it has on children and their families.

To register for the party, send an e-mail to by Jan. 12 listing the number of children and adults who plan to attend.


The Rochester/Olmsted Community Housing Partnership has elected board members as officers for 2006: Dave Reichert, chairman; Joan Karow, vice chairwoman; and Bob Matthews, secretary/treasurer. Rich Batchelor, Don DeCramer, Nate Johnson and Kathy Schwartz make up the rest of the board. The partnership administers education and counseling programs to help lower-income households buy homes. It also partners with lenders and Realtors on affordable home-loan programs.

U.S. Bank employee Denise Kelly has been honored with the company's volunteer award for exceptional volunteer service, and $1,000 has been donated to Channel One Food Bank &; Food Shelf. Recipients of the U.S. Bank Five Star Volunteer Award were chosen based on nominations submitted by employees or the organization for which they volunteer. Kelly works for U.S. Bank in Rochester and volunteers as secretary of the Channel One board of directors and serves on food-shelf committees. Channel One is one of six Minnesota food banks.


Lee J. Afdahl, director of music and organist at Rochester's First Presbyterian Church, will have one of his handbell compositions performed in August at the 12th International Handbell Symposium in Brisbane, Australia. The composition, "O Day of Peace," is a handbell arrangement of the hymn "Jerusalem" and is published by the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers. Hundreds of bellringers from seven countries are expected to gather for the biennial symposium.
