Blustery conditions at the Austin Country Club made for a competitive playing field in Monday's boys golf triangular meet.

In the end, only a total of eight strokes separated the three teams in the Big Nine Conference Meet hosted by the Austin Packers.

Winona won the conference triangular with a 333 team score. The Austin boys were only two strokes back at 335, and Rochester Mayo finished last with a 341 team total.

The event was held on a cold, rainy, and windy day which meant there were no individual scores in the 70s. So close was the competition at the top that the low man for each team all wound up being tied for meet medalist honors.

William Leaf of Winona, Nick Tabor of Austin, and Chip Locke of Mayo all shot rounds of 80 on the day.
