Cotter, Faribault Academies one softball win away

Winona Cotter and Faribault Academies are one victory away from advancing to the state softball tournament after two rounds of play in the section tournaments were completed on Saturday at Stewartville.

Faribault Academies needs one win to capture the Section 1A title. It will meet either Chatfield or Wabasha-Kellogg in Tuesday’s 7 p.m. championship game. Chatfield and W-K face off at 5 p.m. in an elimination game.

Cotter topped Pine Island 4-1 and Zumbrota-Mazeppa 5-1 to reach Tuesday’s Section 1AA championship game.

The Ramblers (20-3) face Z-M or St. Charles in the final at 7 p.m. Z-M and St. Charles meet at 5 p.m. in an elimination game.
