Austin City Council members on Monday extended offers of full-time employment for a police officer and firefighter.

For each position, the offer will go to one of the top three candidates from current eligibility lists. The offers are contingent on the candidates successfully completing necessary testing, including a medical examination.

In other business, the council:

  • Approved extending a liquor license for Leisure Bar, which hasn’t opened yet this year. City code requires a bar to be open for at least six months and one day to retain the license.

Leisure Bar, formerly Traders Bar, has been closed due to water leakage and structural damage to its building caused by a storm. The owner is working to repair the building, possibly through the nonprofit Austin Main Street Project Inc.

  • Allowed street closings as part of downtown’s annual Crazy Days, slated for 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 19.
