DALLAS (MCT) -- Dallas Cowboys safety Keith Davis, the victim of a drive-by shooting early Sunday morning, is happy to be alive and looking forward to playing football again.
Davis is recovering at Baylor Medical Center Dallas after being shot in the head and leg at about 5 a.m. while traveling westbound on Interstate 635 near the tollway,saidDallaspoliceSenior Cpl. Jamie Matthews.
The injuries are not life-threatening.
Davis is listed in stable condition after undergoing surgery to remove bullet fragments. Sunday h e was calling his teammates and agent on the phone to update his condition.
Davis' agent, Curtis Stephens, said the injuries aren't serious and that Davis will be going home in a day or two. The Cowboys report to training camp in Oxnard, Calif., on July 27.
