AUSTIN -- A Dodge Center woman was sentenced to more than six years in prison after pleading guilty to an assault charge.

Tori Jersusha-Ann Ward, 21, was sentenced in Mower County District Court by Judge Kevin Siefken to 74 months in state prison. Ward will received credit for 343 days she already served.

Ward pleaded guilty to first-degree assault-great bodily harm on May 15. At her sentencing Tuesday, charges of first-degree attempted murder, second-degree attempted murder and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon were dismissed.

She was arrested on July 23, 2019, almost a week after Austin police said she hit a man on a skateboard with the car she was driving and then took off. The man suffered a fractured right wrist and several large lacerations, which are classified as "substantial bodily harm," according to court documents.

Ward and the man were known to each other.
