A Rochester man facing four misdemeanor charges after police said he assaulted a hotel employee late last month with a stolen fire extinguisher had that case, as well as 11 others, dismissed Thursday afternoon after an Olmsted District County Court judge found the man incompetent.

Tarius Seas, 20, was charged with fifth-degree assault, trespassing, disorderly conduct and theft from a building for an Aug. 30 incident. Judge Joseph Chase dismissed those charges as well as 16 other misdemeanor charges spread across 11 cases after he found Seas incompetent.

Motions in two cases had been filed to have Seas competency evaluated prior to Thursday's ruling.
