Two men were arrested Thursday morning after police said they were caught trying to steal tools from a Rochester garage.
Rochester police were called around 7:20 a.m. to the 1900 block of Hart Drive Southwest after a homeowner found two men in his garage, according to Lt. Tom Faudskar. The men had reportedly moved some tools in the garage in preparation to steal them.
The men fled when they were caught by the homeowner but police were able to track them down.
Tyler Gene Treichel, 29, of Rochester, was arrested after being found in a vehicle. Police subsequently searched the vehicle and found mail from eight different homes in the area. He was charged in Olmsted County District Court with felony first-degree burglary. Police said they had multiple run-ins with Treichel in the week prior on reports of shoplifting and breaking into cars. He is also facing misdemeanor charges in two cases of theft by shoplifting, trespassing and tamper with a motor vehicle.
A 33-year-old Stewartville man, identified as Brandon Harold Moore, was located riding a small BMX bike he claimed he found. He was also charged in Olmsted County District Court with felony first-degree burglary.
