Area law enforcement are reminding people to not leave valuables in their vehicles after a recent uptick in reports of windows being broken and items being taken.
The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office received a report Sunday afternoon that a vehicle had its window smashed at the Douglas Trail entrance in the 6600 block of 75th Street Northwest in Kalmar Township.
The rear window of a vehicle was broken and a purse was missing from the backseat floor.
Olmsted County Sheriff's Capt. Scott Behrns urged people to be wary and to leave valuables at home.
Capt. Casey Moilanen, of the Rochester Police Department, echoed the sentiment noting that many of these types of incidents occur around parks, trails, hotels or workout facilities.
He urged people to lock their vehicles and keep their valuables at home.
