The Rochester Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a man they say exposed himself to several women downtown and recently grabbed a woman.

A 30-year-old woman reported Thursday night that she was walking around 7:30 p.m. near Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys campus on 11th Avenue Southwest just north of Second Street Southwest when a man casually walked up to her. He started making small talk and then pulled out his penis and started masturbating, Rochester police Capt. Casey Moilanen said.

The woman made multiple attempts to get away from the man, but he continued to follow and circle around her. At one point, the man grabbed the woman from behind and pretended to engage in a sexual act with her, according to Moilanen. The woman was eventually able to get away and call police.

The man is described as a skinny Black man between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall. He was wearing an Adidas sweatshirt, blue athletic shoes and dark-framed glasses. The description matches the suspect described in a number of other downtown exposing incidents.

There have been at least eight incidents of indecent exposure reported since early September. The incidents have primarily occurred between Fourth Avenue Southwest and 11th Avenue Southwest, from Second Street South to Second Street Northwest.
