A 42-year-old Rochester man was arrested Friday for multiple drug-related charges including the sale and possession of heroin.

A representative with the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office said the Southeast Minnesota Violent Crime Enforcement Team received information in August about an individual dealing "large quantities of heroin" in the Rochester area.

Investigators filed a warrant for the individual on Feb. 18. On Feb. 19, the task force tracked a vehicle with the suspect, Sean Alexander, inside it. The vehicle was pulled over as it entered Olmsted County on I-90, near Dover.

Investigators conducted a search warrant on the address where Alexander was listed as staying, which was in the 500 block of Third Street Northwest. Between the residence and a vehicle on the premises, officials found 378.5 grams of marijuana, as well as a backpack holding packaging, cutting materials and a plastic pouch containing nearly 39 grams of heroin. Authorities also found 24.5 grams of "suspected heroin" on Alexander while booking him in the detention center.

Alexander was charged with first-degree controlled substance sale of heroin, first-degree controlled possession of heroin, importing a controlled substance across state borders, introduction of contraband into a correctional facility and fifth-degree controlled possession of marijuana.
