Nationwide, 38,621 bids were accepted covering 2 million acres. About 34 million acres are enrolled in CRP.
All applications were scored based on an Environmental Benefit Index that includes environmental factors like soil erosion, water quality, enduring benefits, air quality and wildlife management. A proposed cost per acre was also used in the decision.
Minnesota FSA director John Monson said another CRP general signup is planned early in 2004.
