The Minnesota Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation plans fundraising walks called Great Strides for Saturday in Rochester and other southeastern Minnesota communities. The events are the largest CF fundraiser.
The walk raises money for research, education and care programs for people with cystic fibrosis, a fatal genetic disease.
All local walks begin at 10 a.m. Saturday’s walks include:
- Silver Lake in Rochester.
- Lake Park Lodge in Winona.
- Wheeler Park in Mankato.
Signs are especially hopeful this year. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation says that 30 years ago most children with the disease did not survive long enough to attend elementary school. Now, the median age of survival is 37. To get involved, call (651) 631-3290 or go to http://greatstrides.cff.org.
