The Rochester Community and Technical College men’s baseball team fell short in two games against Dakota County Technical College Monday in Burnsville, losing 2-1 and 5-1.
In the first game, the Yellowjackets found a pitchers’ duel between RCTC’s Brady Mosenden and DCTC’s David Geiger.
RCTC struck first when Seth Karlsrud drove in Kyle Strand in the third. DCTC answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. No more runs were scored.
"Both teams threw well," RCTC coach Steve Hucke said. "We just couldn’t get the clutch hit."

The Yellowjackets had the bases loaded twice and had two other chances with runners in scoring position, but came up empty.
RCTC fell behind early and couldn’t come back as it lost 5-1 in the second game of the doubleheader.
Again, stranding runners on base hurt RCTC.
Shane Brandt drove in Seth Karlsrud for the team’s only run.
"I thought we pitched well both games but didn’t get the run support," Hucke said.
Dakota County’s pitchers were two of the best pitchers in the conference, Hucke added.
RCTC ends its regular-season conference play tied with DCTC for second in the Minnesota Community College Conference. DCTC has two conference games left, and a win will give it sole possession of second place. RCTC’s overall record is 17-20.
RCTC plays today against Northern Iowa Area Community College at 3 p.m. At 2:50 p.m., there is a jersey retirement for Ryan Truedell, an RCTC player who died this summer in an accident. There will be an opportunity to donate to a memorial for Truedell at the field.
