PRESTON — Veterans with disabilities who have been displaced from homes or suffered other losses from recent flooding may apply for financial aid from Disabled American Veterans on Thursday and Friday in Preston.
A representative from the national veterans aid organization will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days in the lower level of the Fillmore County office building. The DAV, a nonprofit group, offers to help veterans with flood-related losses not covered by insurance.
Military veterans with service-related disabilities are eligible to apply. They do not have to be members of DAV, said Deb Teske, Fillmore County veterans services officer. Veterans from southeastern Minnesota, northeastern Iowa and western Wisconsin may contact the DAV representative, she said.
No appointments are necessary. More information is available from the Filmore County Veterans Service Office at (507) 765-4937.
