David Fowler Bateman — Rochester

ROCHESTER — David Fowler Bateman, 88, of Rochester, formerly of Glen Ellyn, Ill., died Wednesday (Sept. 17, 2008) at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene Bateman of Rochester; two daughters, Barbara (Ron) Machacek of Rochester and Carol (Ron) Vantine of Minneapolis; a son, Peter (Leslie) of Seattle; five grandchildren, Mara (Bob) Schimek, Peter (Caroline) Vantine, Marc (Michele) Machacek, Jessica (Trevor) Birkenholtz and Matthew Bateman; and three great-grandchildren.

In accordance with Mr. Bateman’s wishes, there will be a private family memorial service.

Memorials may be made to the Rochester Reading Center, the Low Vision Center of Minnesota, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
