David S. Barnes — Winona

WINONA — A memorial service for David S. Barnes will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview, with the Rev. David Frederickson officiating. His ashes will be interred in Greenwood Cemetery, Plainview.

Mr. Barnes, 53, died Monday (March 3, 2008) at his home in Winona, of cancer.

David Scott Barnes was born Oct. 10, 1954, in Fort Madison, Iowa. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1972.

For the past several years, he had been employed by Miller Felpax Corp. in Winona as an industrial mold technician. He was an avid golfer and an accomplished artist. A professional musician, he played drums in several bands with good friend Paul Gardner. He also loved fishing in Canada with his best friend, Rick Brink.

He is survived by a daughter, Stephanie "Stevie" Barnes of Plymouth, Minn.; his mother, Pat Barnes of Plainview; two brothers, Jeff (Traci) of Elgin and Dennis of Lombard, Ill.; a sister, Judy Dummermuth of Claremont, Iowa; and dear friend and former spouse, Patty (Paul) Gardner. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.


Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview, and an hour before the service Thursday at the church.
