Don J. Marvin -- Byron

BYRON -- The funeral for Don J. Marvin will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Peace United Church of Christ in Rochester, with the Rev. Doris Underdahl officiating. Private interment will be at a later date.

Mr. Marvin, 71, of Byron, a retired Crenlo Inc. employee, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon (Aug. 25, 2002) at his home.

Born May 30, 1931, in Rochester, he grew up in Rochester, graduated from Rochester High School in 1949 and served in the Army for three years during the Korean War. After his discharge, he returned to Rochester and was employed at Crenlo for 40 years as an engineer/salesman until his retirement in 1992. On Nov. 12, 1955, he married B'Ann Stork in Clear Lake, Iowa. She was a nursing instructor at Rochester Community and Technical College before her retirement. Mr. Marvin had lived in the rural Byron area since 1966. He was a member of the Lady Slippers Model A Club and Hiawatha Chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America. He enjoyed the farm, antique cars, fishing, hunting, traveling and reading.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Patricia A. Marvin of Souderton, Pa., Kathleen M. (Hal) Morris of Abington, Pa., and Janet Protasio of Glendale Heights, Ill.; a son, Steve of Kasson; four grandsons; and a brother, William "Bill" (Audrey) of Bokeelia, Fla.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Vine Funeral Home in Rochester and an hour before the service Thursday at the church.
