Doris Palmgren -- Rochester

ROCHESTER -- A memorial service for Doris Palmgren will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 5 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, Minn., with the Rev. Richard Vangerud officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Garfield Lutheran Cemetery near Madison, Minn.

Mrs. Palmgren, 95, died Friday (Jan. 28, 2005) at Samaritan Bethany Heights in Rochester, where she had lived in recent years.

Doris Hahn was born July 28, 1909, in Odessa, Minn. She grew up in Ortonville, Minn., and graduated from public schools there. She attended college for a year and taught briefly.

She then worked as a telephone operator with Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Ortonville.

She married Conrad Palmgren on July 11, 1941, in the First English Lutheran Church, Ortonville.


A member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mrs. Palmgren taught Sunday School and was active in quilting, church circles and Bethlehem Lutheran Church Women. She also enjoyed playing cards and dancing.

Survivors include a son, Peter (Virginia) Palmgren of Webster, S.D.; two daughters, Patti White of Circle Pines, Minn., and Sara (Rev. Gary) Benson of Rochester; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and two brothers.

There will be no local visitation or reviewal.

The family suggests memorials to the Samaritan Bethany Foundation or to Zumbro Lutheran Church.
