A pickup going east in the wrong lane on Olmsted County Road 9 Friday afternoon forced several cars into the ditch before the driver finally slowed and hit a farm driveway culvert in eastern Olmsted County.
The driver's blood sugar was slowly dropping, and his driving was deteriorating as he went farther east, said Olmsted County Deputy James McCormick. At times, the driver went in and out of ditches, even going into a ravine and driving out of it, according to the information other drivers were giving the department.
The man suffered some bruises but apparently was not seriously injured, McCormick said. He did not release the name of the driver.
According to the sheriff's department, the first call about the dangerous situation came in at 2:04 p.m. and the pickup's driver hit the culvert at 2:25 p.m.
