EDITOR'S NOTE: Election-related letters to the editor will be accepted until Oct. 30.

No more than one letter per writer will be published in any 30-day period. Letters should be fewer than 225 words and include the name, address and telephone number of the writer. We prefer letters that deal with specific issues rather than vague or broad generalities.

We also prefer positive letters that point to specific candidate accomplishments and qualifications, as opposed to negative attacks. Letters addressing issues already covered in previously published letters might not run.

Letters should be original in content; those containing verbatim material from Web sites, candidate brochures and other sources will not be published.

Due to heavy volume, we cannot acknowledge receipt or confirm whether a letter will or will not run.
