A panel discussion about the future of public education in Minnesota will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in room C100 at Riverland Community College.
Speakers will include John Alberts, director of educational services for Austin Public Schools; Joe Brown, superintendent of schools in Grand Meadow; Dan Dorman, former representative in the Legislature and a member of Parents United for Public Education; Paul Mueller, vice-president of Education Minnesota; and Rep. Jeanne Poppe, DFL-Austin.
The even is open to the public. The panel will discuss a variety of perspectives from leaders in public education, and to gain a deeper understanding of common ground, issues, problems and visions for a strong public education system.

The discussion is being sponsored by the Austin branch of the American Association of University Women, which promotes equality for all women, lifelong education and positive changes in society.
