Lourdes High School made some changes Thursday to its learning model and activities calendar for the immediate future starting today.
According to a statement from Rochester Catholic Schools, Lourdes has canceled all in-person and online classes for Thursday and Friday due to increased COVID-19 cases.
Furthermore, according to one of the school's official Twitter accounts, Lourdes canceled all extracurricular activities due to "increased COVID-19 cases in the community and concerns within our school population." That includes Thursday's football game at Chatfield, as well as Friday's volleyball games at Lake City.
A plan to return to classes, either online or in person, will be "communicated to our families in the near future. All other RCS campuses will remain in session at this time."
The cancellation of extracurricular activities and athletics includes all activities for grades 7-12, including practices, which have been postponed until further notice.
"The health and safety of our students, teachers and staff is our top priority, and we remain committed to providing a safe learning environment throughout our system," RCS noted in its written statement. "We are working closely with Olmsted County Public Health to provide guidance."
When reached via email, John Wald with RCS said the school system would not provide any additional information.
