Lourdes High School’s commencement will be 7:30 p.m. Friday in the William and Caroline Adamson Family Gymnasium at Lourdes, 2800 19th St. NW, Rochester.

Top honor students

Luke Alexander, son of Jeff and Helen Alexander. Academic achievements and activities include Varsity Golf, Varsity Soccer, Varsity Hockey, LHS Intramural Sports, ENN, Volunteer Outreach Program, National Honors Society, Kiwanis Student of the Month. His volunteer efforts include: St. Francis Lunch Program, Feed My Starving Children, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and the Red Lake Mission Trip. Luke will be studying Business and Finance at Villanova University.

Natalie Allison, daughter of Kathleen and Brian Allison. Academic achievements and activities include, Varsity Tennis Captain, Varsity Golf, Yearbook Club, Global Leadership Conference Member, National Honor Society, and AP Scholar. Her community service activities include: Eucharistic Ministry at St. John the Evangelist Church and Lourdes High School, Channel One Food Shelf Volunteer, and Red Lake Mission Trip Participant. Natalie will attend the Carlson School of Management of the University of Minnesota and major in entrepreneurship.

Alisha Bhagia, daughter of Lalit and Jyoti Bhagia. Academic achievements and activities include, National Honor Society, Research at the Mayo Clinic Sleep and Cognitive Neurophysiology Lab, Debate Team, Speech Team, Cultural Exchange Club, Liturgical Choir, Theater, Math League, and Choir. Her volunteer efforts include: Mayo Clinic Young Volunteers, Volunteering through the Sathya Sai Group of Rochester, MN, and WHO (We Help Others) Club. Alisha plans to attend the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities as a Bachelor of Arts/Medical Doctor Joint Admissions Scholar with intent to continue on in the University’s Medical School.

Clara Billings, daughter of Heather and Tom Billings. Academic achievements and activities include, Varsity Girls Hockey, Habitat for Humanity, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Academic All State Girls Hockey, and National Honors Society. Her volunteer efforts include: Thursday’s on First, Ronald McDonald House, Olmsted County Fair, and Rochester Youth Hockey. Clara plans on attending Gustavus Adolphus College next fall with the intention of majoring in Biology.

Samuel Boes, son of Carrie and Chris Boes. Academic achievements and activities include, National Merit Finalist, Varsity Lacrosse, Varsity Soccer, Concert Choir, Student Council, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), National Honor Society, two-timeJohn Marshall/Lourdes Lacrosse Student-Athlete of the Year, and Harvard Book Award. He has volunteered as an Eagle Reader. Samuel plans to attend the University of Minnesota and major in neuroscience while minoring in Spanish or linguistics.

Anna Braun, daughter of Patrick and Sara Braun. Academic achievements and activities include, Varsity Basketball, Varsity Soccer, Varsity Cross Country, Student Council Executive, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) Leader, Habitat for Humanity, and Campus Ministry. She has been a group leader for Vacation Bible School and volunteer helping kids with reading and homework at St. Pius X School. Anna will be studying Pharmacy at Drake University next year.

Maxwell Carlsen, son of Jennifer and Brian Carlsen. Academic achievements and activities include, Varsity Soccer, Euro FC Soccer, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), National Honor Society, National Merit Commended Student, and AP Scholar. He has volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore and as a Surgical Messenger at Mayo Clinic. Maxwell will be attending the University of Minnesota — Twin Cities.

Julia Cordes, daughter of Mary Ellen Cordes and Todd Cordes. Academic achievements and activities include, Varsity Track and Field, Varsity Swim and Dive, Marching Band, Winter Drumline, Jazz Band, Debate, Math League, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Yearbook, Cultural Exchange Club, National Merit Commended Student, National Honor Society, Academic All-American: Swim and Dive, and Academic All-State: Track and Field. She has volunteered with the Habitat for Humanity Club. Julia plans to attend St. Olaf College and will major in Math or Science.

Andrew Deick, son of Steve and Brenda Deick. Academic achievements and activities include, National Merit Finalist, Varsity Cross Country, FIRST Robotics, Math League, Boy Scouts, National Honor Society, and Kiwanis Student of the Month. His volunteer efforts include: Friendship Place, Channel One, Ditch Cleanup, and Interfaith Hospitality. Andrew is enrolled in the Iowa State Honors program and will pursue a degree in Software Engineering.

Amber Dierkhising, daughter of Lisa and Ross Dierkhising. Academic achievements and activities include, Highlighters Jazz Band, Marching Band Drum Major, Basketball Manager, Saxophone Section Leader, Olmsted County 4-H member, Pax Christi Church Choir, Kiwanis 4-H youth leader of the month, Rotary Club Student of the Month, and National Honors Society. Her volunteer efforts include: Pax Christi Summer Church Camp, Habitat for Humanity, Pax Christi Church Confirmation, Rochester Women’s shelter, Ronald McDonald House, and Feed my Starving Children. Amber plans to major in exercise physiology at the College of St. Scholastica.

Christine Farnberg, daughter of Lisa and Eric Farnberg. Academic achievements and activities include, 5x Letter Award for Figure Skating, USFS Athlete Alumni Ambassador Overall Winner, USFS Platinum Senior Award, 2x National Synchronized Skating Championships Competitor, Rotary Service Above Self Award, National Honor Society Officer, Youth Commission Executive Committee Member, Human Rights Commission

Member, National Latin Exam Silver Medal, National Merit Commended Student, and National Spelling Bee Semifinalist. Her volunteer efforts include: Founder and President of WHO Club (We Help Others), Run for Rochester 5K Coordinator, and Red Lake Mission Trip . Christine will major in Political Science at Boston College.

Michael Frain, son of Mike and JoEllen Frain. Academic achievements and activities include, Varsity Football, Varsity Basketball, Varsity Track and Field, Student Council, and National Honor Society. His volunteer efforts include: being a confirmation sponsor, St. Francis Lunch for the Poor, and Hospitality Ministry. Michael will attend St. John’s University with a double major in Mathematics and Economics.

Matthew Hayford, son of Mark and Kirsten Hayford. Academic achievements and activities include, National Honor Society, Varsity Football, Varsity Baseball, and Varsity Basketball. He has participated in Walk for the Poor. Matthew will major in Business at St. John’s University.

Christopher Kane, son of Garvan Kane and Karina Keogh. Academic achievements and activities include, Mayo Clinic High School Mentorship Program, History Bee, Debate Team, Boys State, Mock Trial, Eagle Online/Eagle News Nation, Rochester Public Library Teen Library Council, National Merit Commended Scholar, AP Scholar with Distinction, National Latin Exam Silver Medal and Magna Cum Laude Certificate, National Honor Society. He has volunteered at Assisi Heights and as a Camp Invention leadership Intern. Christopher will be attending Princeton University with a major in Public and International Affairs.

Elizabeth Leeser, daughter of Amy and Travis Leeser. Academic achievements and activities include, Science Club Leader, Speech Captain, Math League, One Act Play, National Honor Society, and dance classes and performances through Allegro School of Dance. Her volunteer activities include Holy Spirit Youth Leadership Team and Habitat for Humanity. Elizabeth plans to attend St. Olaf College with a double major in Physics and Computer Science.

Teresa Nowakowski, daughter of Mary and Steve Nowakowski. Academic achievements and activities include, Speech — Captain, Math League — Captain, National Honor Society, Band Council, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Theater/One Act, Science Club, Library Aide, and Editor of LHS “Aerie”. Teresa is a National Merit Finalist, Kiwanis Student of the Month, and HVL Honor Band. Her volunteer efforts include: Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Holy Spirit Church Youth Leadership Team, and Christmas Anonymous. Teresa will be attending the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.

Alyssa Ratzloff, daughter of Chris and Amy Ratzloff. Academic achievements and activities include, Varsity Hockey — Captain, Varsity Lacrosse — Captain, IMPACT Student

Her volunteer efforts include: Feed My Starving Children, Thursday’s on First Clean Up, Purple Orchard Dementia/ Alzheimer’s Walk, Mayo Clinic Dinner, and Salvation Army Bell Ringing. Alyssa will be a Pre-Dental major at the College of St. Scholastica.

Margaret Rogers, daughter of James and Nora Rogers. Margaret plans to major in Biology at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
