Edward J. Rowley -- Kasson

KASSON -- A memorial service for Edward J. Rowley will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at South Zumbro Lutheran Church in rural Kasson, with the Rev. Mark Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Rowley, 70, of Kasson, died Tuesday (Oct. 19, 2004) at Rochester Methodist Hospital after a short illness with cancer.

He was born May 4, 1934, in Eau Claire, Wis. He grew up in Wisconsin and for 17 years, worked as a social worker and director for Allendale School for Boys in Lake Villa, Ill. He retired from Medallion Cabinetry in May 2003 after 15 years. He married Diane "Willie" VanHilst on Nov. 27, 1976, in Waukegan, Ill. The couple moved to Kasson a year ago. He enjoyed woodworking, motorcycling and camping. He was a member of South Zumbro Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Wendy (Steve) Fedie of Long Lake, Minn., Christy (Steve) Otterbeck of Angwin, Calif., Nanette (Dar) Larson of St. Bonifacius, Minn., Martina (Mark) King of Wheaton, Ill., and Jenny (Burt) Pavek of Watertown, Minn.; four sons, Kevin (Susan) of Lakeland, Fla., Jeff (Kirstin) Schmidt of Kasson, Jerry Schmidt of Hamburg, Minn., and John (Sue) Schmidt of New Hope, Minn.; 24 grandchildren; and a brother, Allyn (Kathy) Rowley of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.

There will be no reviewal or visitation. Czaplewski Family Funeral Home-Hayfield Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
