ROCHESTER -- A funeral Mass for Edward N. Mahon will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, with Monsignor Gerald A. Mahon and the Rev. Timothy T. Reker co-officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Mr. Mahon, 91, of 1335 48th St. N.E., a longtime area farmer, died Saturday at his son's home under hospice care.
He was born Jan. 10, 1913, on the family farm in Hadley Valley and lived there all his life. He worked for Western Union while attending Rochester High School and then farmed. On Sept. 12, 1938, he married Gertrude B. McCoy at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She died in 1991. Mr. Mahon was a charter member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a member of the National Farmers Organization.
Survivors include four sons, Donald E. (Sandy) of Alaska and Thomas W. (Carol), Monsignor Gerald A. and Roger J. (Jo Lynn), all of Rochester; a daughter, Charleen (Jim) Peterson of St. Paul; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the church from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and an hour before the service Tuesday.
