MILLVILLE -- The funeral for Elda Louisa Nord will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville, with the Rev. Bob Sinex of High Forest Community Church co-officiating. Burial will be in High Forest Cemetery.
Mrs. Nord, 93, of Millville, died Thursday (Oct. 28, 2004) of complications of Multiple Myoloma at Olmsted Community Hospital. She had been hospitalized for the past week.
Elda Louisa Ames was born April 6, 1911, in Fillmore County and grew up on the family farm. On Dec. 7, 1929, she married Ernest A. Nord in Rochester. The couple were both employed at the former Preston hospital. They later moved to Kenyon, and in 1934 moved to High Forest. Mrs. Nord worked at the former Reid Murdock Canning plant for several years, and for 25 years she was employed as a housekeeper for local Mayo doctors. In 1968, the couple retired and moved to Prairie Lake in northern Minnesota. In 2002, they moved to Millville. Mr. Nord died July 10, 2003. Mrs. Nord enjoyed fishing, hiking, gardening and reading.
Survivors include three daughters, Elaine L. Noehl of Millville, Patricia (Darwin) McKenzie of High Forest in rural Stewartville, and Janet M. Andrist of Rochester; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald Ames of Victorville, Calif.; and one sister, Ethel Nave of Clinton, Iowa. Four sons, two grandsons, and two brothers preceded her in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the service on Sunday.
