Eldo O. Jacobson -- Rochester

ROCHESTER -- A memorial service for Eldo O. Jacobson will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in rural Ellendale, with the Revs. Thomas Koelln of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Rochester and Jack Miller of Pontoppidan Lutheran Church co-officiating. Burial of cremation ashes will be in Pontoppidan Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Mr. Jacobson, 82, of Rochester, died Saturday (Oct. 26, 2002) at Saint Marys Hospital from complications of a stroke.

He was born Oct. 18, 1920, on the family farm in Steele County. Following his school years, he farmed at home until serving with the U.S. Army, 27th Engineers, for three years in the South Pacific during World War II. On Feb. 10, 1946, he married Arlene R. Jensen in Owatonna. He owned an automobile shop in New Richland for 12 years, owned and operated the Olympic Bowl in Preston for 12 years, and then they moved to Rochester, where he was employed at Crenlo until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of Eyota American Legion Post 551 and New Richland American Legion.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Duane S. (Carole) of Eyota and Loren P. (Julie) of Rochester; one daughter, JoAnn Bothun of Rochester; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Orace of Octonto Falls, Wis., and Sylvan (Evelyn) of New Richland; and one sister, Inez (Orrin) Ribbe of New Richland. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Friends may call one hour before the service at the church Friday.
