Eldor James 'Jim' Ties -- Winona

WINONA -- The funeral for Eldor James "Jim" Ties was 10:30 a.m. today in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Silo, in rural Lewiston with the Rev. William Meilner officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Ties, 71, of rural Winona died Thursday (Aug. 15, 2002) at his home.

He was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Norton Township. He married Gloria Tainter on Aug. 29, 1952, in Winona. He was a skilled carpenter and member of the local carpenters union. He was president of the union for a number of years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. In his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed many bus trips in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Bruce of Austin, Texas, Rod (Deb) of Winona, Dan (Diane) of Winona and Kevin (Deb) of Rushford; four daughters, Deb (Mark) Harrison of Robbinsdale, Minn., Sandy (Bob) Petrich of Woodbury, Minn., Becky (Brian) LaCroix of Apple Valley, Minn., and Kristy Ties of Winona; 21 grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one stepgreat-grandchild; his mother, Adele Ties of Utica; a brother, LaVerne (Marge) of Lewiston; five sisters, Garnet (Cliff) Olson of Minneapolis; Eileen Stevor of North St. Paul, Charlotte (Roland) Pasche of Rollingstone, Kathy (Ray) Pong of Denver, Colo., and Susie (Bob) Bain of Lewiston.

He was preceded in death by his father, a brother and a sister.
