PRESTON — Larry E. Hindt won a special election Tuesday to fill the District 3 seat in Fillmore County.

With the unofficial total of 161 votes for Hindt and 121 for Kevin Beck, Hindt won the race to fill the seat vacated in January when Gary Peterson resigned from the board of commissioners.

Heidi Jones, the Fillmore County Auditor/Treasurer said the results are unofficial at this point, but canvassing will take place Thursday to certify the results.

Because the election was to fill an unexpired term, the District 3 seat will be on the ballot again in November 2020, and the term will expire at the end of December 2020.

Hindt and Beck were on the ballot after getting the top two vote totals in a primary race held May 14.
