WINONA — The League of Women Voters in Winona will host a forum Wednesday for candidates in two upcoming primary election races.
Candidates for Winona County Board of Commissioners Seat 5 will face off from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Winona City Council Chambers. Those candidates include challengers Lynn Carlson and Bryce Allen-Orville Lange, and incumbent Marcia L. Ward.
From 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., candidates for the at-large and District 1 seats on the Winona Area Public Schools board will face off. Candidates for the at-large seat include incumbent Ben Baratto and challengers Nancy Denzer, Kenneth Kersting, John (J.R.) Larkie, Jim Schul, Luke Sims and Karl W. Sonneman. For the District 1 seat, candidates include incumbent Steve Schild and challengers Ted Hazelton and Oscar Uribe Mardones.
The forum will be held at the Winona City Council Chambers, 207 Lafayette St.
The LWV is asking the public to arrive by 5:15 p.m. due to the live TV broadcast of the event over the local public access government channel as well as a live audience in the chambers.
The top two vote-getters in the primary election will face one another in the general election. The primary election in Minnesota will be Aug. 14. The general election is Nov. 6.
