ST. CHARLES -- A funeral Mass for Elizabeth Caroline Holzer will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Callahan officiating. Burial will be in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Lewiston.
Mrs. Holzer, 87, of St. Charles, died Friday (March 19, 2004) at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles, where she had lived since 1994.
Elizabeth Caroline Fix was born Jan. 4, 1917, in rural Utica. On Aug. 31, 1938, she married Anthony Joseph Holzer in Lewiston and they lived south of Utica for many years. After moving to St. Charles, she worked for Southside Grocery, St. Charles Bakery, Jim's Red Owl, Mike's Food Center and Whitewater Healthcare Center. Her husband died Oct. 12, 1972. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, St. Rita's Unit and St. Anne's Society.
Survivors include a son, Curtis (Geraldine) of St. Charles; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Two sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Homes-St. Charles Chapel, where the rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
