CLAREMONT -- The funeral for Elma Burzlaff will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Owatonna, with the Rev. Kirk Griebel officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna.
Mrs. Burzlaff, 91, of Owatonna, formerly of Claremont and Dodge Center, died Sunday (July 6, 2003) at Alterra Sterling House in Owatonna.
Elma Scherger was born Sept. 29, 1911, in Dodge Center and graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1930. She taught in public schools from 1931 to 1932. On June 7, 1932, she married Herbert W. Burzlaff, and they farmed north of Claremont until 1983. Mrs. Burzlaff was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church in Claremont, where she taught Sunday school for 30 years. She enjoyed cooking and baking.
Survivors include a daughter, Alice White of Owatonna; a son, Bernard (Joan) of Burleson, Texas; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marian Pogalz of Owatonna. She was preceded in death by her husband, four sisters and four brothers.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna and an hour before the service Thursday at the church.
