Ervin August Banidt — Red Wing

RED WING — The funeral service for Ervin August Banidt will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. John’s Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Loren Lucht officiating. Burial will be in Grace Lutheran Church Cemetery in Goodhue.

Ervin August Banidt, 94, of Red Wing, died Sunday at the Red Wing Health Center.

He was born Sept. 26, 1912, in rural Mazeppa. He grew up on the family farm and attended schools in that area. He moved to Red Wing in 1957 and lived in the Burnside area. He was employed at local gas stations and also worked on highway construction for a number of years. He was a custodian at the Public Safety Building until his retirement. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He loved horses and the outdoors.

Survivors include a sister, Elda Banidt; nephews Donald (Lois) and Wayne (Merry) Dankers; nieces, Marilyn (Nick) Luhman and Diann (Robert) Schachtschneider; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Verona Hadler and Irene Dankers, an infant brother, Norman Banidt, and one niece, Velva Mae Reese.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.


Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
