Erwin A. Jeche -- Fountain

FOUNTAIN -- The funeral for Erwin A. Jeche, 94, of Fountain, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Fountain Lutheran Church in Fountain with the Rev. Curtis Fox officiating. Burial will be in the Fountain Cemetery.

Mr. Jeche died Friday (July 4, 2003) in Preston Good Samaritan Center. He was born Sept. 2, 1908, in Fillmore Township, Fillmore County. He attended country school and later a business school in Mankato. He married Virginia Gratz on April 10, 1939, in Wykoff. He owned and operated a grocery in Wykoff and then worked for Red Owl groceries in Princeton and Lake City. He then owned the Fountain IGA for many years until his retirement in 1972. His wife died in 1998. He was a member of the Fountain Lutheran Church, a member of the La Crosse Auto Club and enjoyed driving his 1957 Chevrolet in parades. He enjoyed wrestling matches and playing Santa Claus. He was involved with the Senior Citizens of Fountain and Heritage Fairs, where he demonstrated how to make sausage with an old sausage stuffer. He also enjoyed playing cards and was well known for his sense of humor.

A niece survives. He was preceded in death by a son, a sister and a brother.

Friends may call from noon until the time of service at the Fountain Lutheran Church on Tuesday.

Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston was in charge of arrangements.
