Eugene E. Cook -- Rochester

ROCHESTER -- A funeral Mass for Eugene E. Cook will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tres Pinos, Calif. The body will be cremated. Private interment will be in St. Benedict Church Columbarium in Hollister, Calif.

Mr. Cook, 70, of Hollister, formerly of Rochester, died Wednesday morning (Aug. 28, 2002) at Hazel Hawkins Hospital in Hollister following a brief illness.

Born in Rochester, he graduated from Spring Valley High School and Winona State College, and during the Korean War served in the Army. In 1954, he married Adonna J. Mensink. After his military service, he taught music in the Martinez, Calif., school system and then worked in the insurance business. He later joined IBM in Rochester and in 1984 transferred with the company to San Jose, Calif. He had lived in Hollister since 1984 and retired from IBM in 1990 after 28 years of service. Mr. Cook was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Sons in Retirement Chapter, and was active in the San Benito Concert Association and Santa Clara Boy Scouts. His interests included woodworking, gardening and traveling.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael of Campbell, Calif., and John of San Jose; three daughters, Karen (Khalil) Ahmari of San Jose, and Mary (Paul) Zuchowski and Debra Cook, both of Morgan Hill, Calif; eight grandchildren; and two brothers, Jerry of Rochester and Richard of Austin

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home in Hollister, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
