Everything clicks for Mayo in 6th

Rachael Click kicked off a rally in the sixth inning Friday night as Rochester Mayo knocked off Albert Lea 4-2 in Big Nine Conference softball.

Click began the sixth with a single. She was later brought home when designated hitter Julie Brinkman smashed a double to left-center. Shelby Swenson added another run in the inning with an RBI single.

Shelly Monahan was the winning pitcher. She went the distance and allowed five hits. Mayo committed no errors.

Monahan set Albert Lea down in order in the top of the seventh.

"(Our) pitchers continue to keep us in games and today Shelly got the run support needed for a win," Mayo coach Steve Riles said.

Mayo, now 7-9 overall and 7-7 in the Big Nine, plays host to Winona Cotter at 5 p.m. Monday.
