FAMILY TIME CALENDAR Saturday, Dec. 14

The film "Puff the Magic Dragon" begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Rochester Public Library Auditorium.

Animal Tracks and Signs, a hike at Chester Woods Park, begins at 1 p.m. at the Park Office. Dress warmly and wear good boots. For ages 5 and older.

Annual Christmas Bird Count, sponsored by Zumbro Valley Audubon Society, runs from 7:15 a.m. to noon and again from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Counting is done from cars or on short hikes. The morning session meets at the west parking lot at Silver Lake in Rochester. The afternoon session meets at Quarry Hill Nature Center, Rochester. Tallying is done at Quarry Hill after each session. Sola Fide Observatory, south of Austin, opens to the public at 8 p.m. Information: Keith Snyder at 433-1903.

Sunday, Dec. 15

Historic Limestone Cave Tour in Quarry Hill Park begins at 1:30 p.m. at Quarry Hill Nature Center, Rochester. Bring a flashlight. This includes an easy 10-minute hike to the cave and lasts approximately one hour. Reservations/information: 281-6114.

Monday, Dec. 16

Storytime Adventures! is offered each Monday and Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Barnes &; Noble at Apache Mall.

Tuesday, Dec. 17

"Bedtime Stories" (puppets and films, too) are offered at 7 p.m. each Tuesday in the Rochester Public Library Auditorium. Free. Parents are invited to remain with their children.

Wednesday, Dec. 18

At Austin Public Library -- Toddler Time, for children younger than 3, begins at 9:30 a.m. Pre-School Story Time, for children ages 3 to 6, is held at 10 a.m. and again at 4:30 p.m.

Story Time is offered each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Pied Piper bookstore in Miracle Mile, Rochester.

Friday, Dec. 20

Story Time for young children with Shawn Kettlecamp begins at 10 a.m. at Barnes &; Noble bookstore in the Galleria. Information: 288-3848.
