FAMILYTIME CALENDAR Saturday, Oct. 9

FallCon Comic Book convention will be held today and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Education Building at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St. Paul. Admission: $9 adults (good for both days); children 9 and younger free.

Film "Cricket in Times Square" will be shown at 10:30 a.m. in the Rochester Public Library auditorium.

Whitewater State Park Naturalist Programs include: Hawk Walk from 10 a.m. to noon. Binoculars and bird brochures will be available. This is a moderately strenuous walk to Chimney Rock. Nuts and Teas if You Please from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Bring your mug for some tea. Black walnuts and butternuts will be available for cracking. Sea Kayaking for Beginners in the late afternoon. Minnesota Wildlife in Fall will be presented at Oxbow Park at 1 p.m. Come tour Zollman Zoo and learn first-hand how Minnesota animals adapt to the rigors of the winter season. Recommended for all ages.

Storytime Adventures! is offered at 11 a.m. each Monday and Wednesday at Barnes &; Noble Apache Mall.

Tuesday, Oct. 12

Story Time is offered at 10:30 a.m. each Tuesday and Wednesday at Pied Piper bookstore in Miracle Mile, Rochester.

Bedtime Stories for young children and their parents will be shown at 7 p.m. in the Rochester Public Library Auditorium. Theme is "Harvest Hoe-Down."

Friday, Oct. 15

Halloween Warm-Up will take place tonight and Saturday from 6:50 p.m. to 9:10 p.m. at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center, 1304 21st St. N.E. in Austin. Cost is $6. Every 10 minutes a group of 25 people will walk into the forest to meet assorted spirits. The event is appropriate for children age 4-11. Tickets: (507) 437-7519.

Night hike will begin at 8 p.m. at Oxbow Park. Spend a spectacular autumn night taking in the sounds and smells of Oxbow's wooded hillsides. This non-threatening excursion into the forest and glens will treat your senses and soothe your peace of mind. Wear warm clothing, something to sit on the forest floor with, and a buddy. Recommended for ages 10 and up.
