Filling the air with music, balloons

FARIBAULT -- Music and balloons will be in the air this weekend as both the Tree Frog Music Festival and Faribault Airfest and Balloon Rally get under way.

The airfest and balloon rally runs Friday through Sunday at the airport.

The annual music fest, held Saturday and Sunday, brings 18 music acts to Teepee Tonka Park on the banks of the Straight River.

Saturday's headliners include Minnesota bluesman Big George Jackson, national rockers Kory and the Fireflies and blues/rock guitarist Corey Stevens.

Sunday afternoon features Americana music by Mick Sterling and the contemporary country-rock of Mike Hildebrandt and The Over &; Back Band.

The music festival starts at noon each day. Admission is $12 in advance, $15 at the gate, which is good for both days. Children will be admitted for $10.

Parking is $3. Bring your own lawn chairs or blankets.
