DOVER — Fire heavily damaged a Dover home just before noon today, but no injuries were reported at the scene where firefighters from two departments worked to extinguish it.
Tammy Palmer, who lived with a housemate in the one-story home along Olmsted County Road 142, about a half mile east of the city of Dover, could only watch as smoke billowed from doors and windows.
"I don’t believe it," said Palmer who was not home when the fire broke out. "It’s right before Christmas."

Doug Peterson of Dover first saw the smoke while driving on U.S. 14 to St. Charles to have lunch with a priest.
"It was too much smoke for a woodburner," Peterson said. Once he got near the house, he activated the OnStar service in his pickup and the fire was reported to authorities.
The Dover and Eyota fire departments were still on scene at 12:30 p.m.
