KENYON — First responders found human remains in a burnt vehicle on New Year's Eve after responding to a structure fire.
The call for the fire went out at 6:14 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, in the 45000 block of Highway 56 Boulevard, which is in Holden Township, north of Kenyon, the Goodhue County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
Firefighters found the remains in a burnt vehicle near the home.
According to the release, the homeowners and residents have been located. The Sheriff's Office reported that the remains will be autopsied by the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner's Office for identification.
The cause of the fire was still unknown on New Year's Day. A representative from the Goodhue County Sheriff's Office could not immediately be reached for more information.
