First wineludes L/P

Athletics fall to 0-3 in boys golf

NORTHWOOD, Iowa — The Lyle/Austin Pacelli boys golf team played a make-up meet with Glenville-Emmons on Thursday and lost by three strokes.

This was the third straight Southeast Conference dual meet loss for the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics and they’ve all been relatively close. This time, the G-E boys hung on for a 189-192 win on their home course at the Northwood (Iowa) Country Club.

Jarrad Knutson of G-E was the meet medalist with a round of 41 on the day. Ryan Fett was the low man for L/P with a 46. Matt Buntje finished one stroke behind Fett and Alex Brennan was also in the 40s for Lyle/Pacelli.

"Knutson birdied two of the last three holes to get the meet medalist and that effort probably won the match for them," L/P coach Mark Buntje said. "Our guys all shot pretty consistent. We keep getting closer to victory, but each of them had one or two bad holes and that prevented the win. We didn’t make our putts, and that was the difference."

L/P (0-3) plays host to Houston this afternoon in a Southeast Conference dual meet at River Oaks in Austin.

• At Northwood Country Club, par 36

Lyle/Pacelli (192): Ryan Fett 46, Matt Buntje 47, Alex Brennan 49, Scott Snyder 50.

Glenville-Emmons (189): Jarrad Knutson 41, Kyle Belshan 47, Anndrew Mittag 49, Brody Larson 52.
