WARROAD, Minn. — A fire at a construction site in Warroad is under control, but authorities say five buildings have been destroyed.
Warroad Police Chief Bob Cudabeck says the buildings at a nursing home and assisted-living complex covered an area of about two square blocks. The fire started early this morning.
Cudabeck says the buildings were empty at the time, and there are no injuries. An officer on patrol noticed smoke about 1:20 a.m. High winds made the fire spread quickly.
The police chief says the cause is under investigation, and a state fire marshal will visit the site.
