La CRESCENT -- The funeral for Florence M. Evans will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at South Ridge United Methodist Church in rural La Crescent, with the Rev. Lora Sturm officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in La Crescent.
Mrs. Evans, 89, of rural La Crescent, died Thursday (May 23, 2002).
Florence M. McElmury was born July 19, 1912, in Money Creek. She graduated from Houston High School. She married Harold W. Evans on June 14, 1932. They farmed on South Ridge, in rural LaCrescent, for 40 years. She was a member of South Ridge United Methodist Church and was a charter member of its women's organization. She also taught Sunday school.
She is survived by a son, Charles (Amy) Evans of La Crescent; a daughter, Lois McElhiney of La Crescent; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harry (Hazel) McElmury of Lakeville and Lester McElmury of Lewiston; and a sister, Verna (Cy) Larson of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and two brothers.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Hoff Funeral Home Houston Chapel and an hour before the service Tuesday at the church.
