WABASHA -- The funeral for Florence M. Jacobs will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Kellogg United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lyle Krumrie officiating. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery in Kellogg.
Mrs. Jacobs, 98, of Wabasha, a retired teacher, died Monday (July 29, 2002) at St. Elizabeth's Health Care Center in Wabasha.
Florence M. Honer was born Feb. 6, 1904, in Kellogg and received her teaching certificate from Winona Normal School. She taught country school in Winona, Wabasha and Olmsted counties for many years. She also taught elementary school in Minnesota City and Elgin, and before her retirement in 1979 was a substitute teacher at Wabasha Elementary School. She was a piano teacher in her younger years.
On Oct. 18, 1930, she married William Jacobs in Farmington, Minn. Her husband was a rural mail carrier. He died April 4, 1976. Mrs. Jacobs was a member of Kellogg United Methodist Church, where she served as organist for many years, and was a charter member of the Wabasha chapter of the Eastern Star and a former member of the Winona Eastern Star.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Mae (Richard R.) Bowe of Lauderdale, Minn.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Two sisters and four brothers preceded her in death.
