NEW ULM, Minn. -- A former New Ulm firefighter has been sentenced to six months in jail for starting a string of fires in New Ulm last year.
Gary Negron, 40, also was fined $3,000 and ordered to pay about $15,000 in restitution to his former employer, New Ulm Telecom, the company that owned property that Negron set on fire.
Negron was charged April 23 with starting four fires in New Ulm between Jan. 14, 2002, and Sept. 19, 2002.
Negron pleaded guilty Aug. 21 to two counts of second-degree arson and one count of third-degree arson.
