Frank James Howe -- Lake City

LAKE CITY -- The funeral for Frank James Howe will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery in Lake City.

Mr. Howe, 88, of Lake City, died Saturday (Dec. 13, 2003) at the Lake City Hospital Mayo Health System.

He was born May 3, 1915, in Defiance, Ohio, and grew up in the Chicago area. On Feb. 24, 1939, he married Lois LaBatt. The couple lived in Chicago and Mr. Howe worked as a carpenter. He joined the U.S. Navy during World War II and served in the Aleutian Islands. When he was discharged he returned to Chicago and continued working as a carpenter for 50 years in the Chicago area. In 1977 he retired and they moved to Lake City. Mrs. Howe died Oct. 16, 2002. Mr. Howe was a member of Lake City VFW post 8729.

He is survived by his sister, Norma Chorley of Lancing, Ill.

Friends may call one hour before the service at the funeral home.
